NEXT STEPS

In this life journey we are on, we are constantly changing.  The world is changing.  Our families are changing.  And wherever you are in life, whatever is going on, you will always have a next step to take as you grow.  It's our hope that those next steps bring you into an ever deepening relationship with Jesus, with a passionate desire to live like Him.  Here are some things we feel are very important "next steps" in your journey, and know that we'd love to journey with you!

BE BAPTIZED

Baptism is about becoming part of the body of Christ and declaring that Jesus is Lord of your life.  This IS the next step after repentance.  Here are a few things to think about when considering baptism...

  • Yes...everyone should be baptized.  Jesus called for it and set an example for us in being baptized Himself.

  • Don't wait to be baptized.  You don't have to be "good enough" to be baptized.

  • Baptism of children and infants is acceptable in the Nazarene Church at the request of the parents.

  • If you've been baptized in the past, there is no need to be baptized again.  You were baptized into the body of Christ and part of the family!

READ GOD'S WORD

We believe that the bible is the inspired word of God, which God uses to reveal who He is and who He desires us to be.  So many say, "I don't have time to read the bible."  What if you simply did it for 10 minutes a day?  Consider all the things we do that take 10 minutes, most of which are not as important.

Not sure where to start?  We recommend using the YouVersion Bible App, which can be downloaded to your phone.  This completely FREE app allows you to read, set up reading plans and devotions, and so much more!

But know that we'd love to help you as well, so shoot us a message and we'll get you started.

SERVE OTHERS

Jesus said that all of scripture can be summed up as "Love God and love people".  Loving people is a natural byproduct of loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.  There are many ways to love people, but following Jesus' example of being a servant is one of the best and most fulfilling ways to do so.

We have many opportunities to serve within Community Church and through Community Church into the community of Sikeston and beyond and we'd love for you to join us!

MEET JESUS

In John 14:6, Jesus tells us that He is the way, the truth and life.  Despite what the world says, there is no other way to God the Father.  In believing this truth and allowing Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, you can experience right relationship with Him.  You don't need to "have it all together".  Simply repent of your sins and begin following Jesus!  Believing in Jesus is the first step to the greatest journey of your life.  If you have questions or simply want someone to contact you about this, just click on the link below.

PRAY

Prayer is a vital part of our relationship with God.  It's how we communicate (speak and listen) with Him.  The importance of daily prayer can't be overemphasized.  It's so important it's mentioned over 250 times in scripture.  Prayer connects us with God through confession, thanks, praise, and petitions.  It's also acknowledges that God is in control of our lives and we desperately need Him.  Not sure how to pray?  Start with how Jesus taught us...

Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done,

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever.

Amen.

BECOME A MEMBER

Every follower of Jesus should belong to a local church and become active participants in the life of that church family.  This includes worshipping together, praying together, serving together, and giving together in community.

We believe that membership is synonymous with involvement.  It's a partnership in creating, leading and funding the ministries of God's Church.

If you wish to learn more about what it means to be a member of Community Church, we'd love to talk to you more about it and help you understand the requirements for becoming a member, how to engage in discipleship, and find ways to serve in ministry.  Just click the link below for more information!
